AVMA Research Awards
The AVMA Council on Research recognizes exemplary achievements of Veterinary Researchers through 4 different awards. Nominees will be judged both by evidence of sustained research activity through their career and the significance of the impact that that research. A nominee not selected for an award in any given year may be included in consideration for the following year if the nominator sends an updated letter of nomination requesting such. Lifetime Excellence in Research Award
Established in November 2005, this award was proposed by the Council on Research to recognize a veterinary researcher on the basis of lifetime achievement in basic, applied, or clinical research.

Established in 2009 by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) and Winn Feline Foundation, this award honors a candidate’s contribution to advancing feline research.

Clinical Research Award
Established in 1955 by the Council on Research, the AVMA Clinical Research Award is given annually to a veterinarian in recognition of his or her achievements in research that have advanced the veterinary profession.
