The AVMA House of Delegates (HOD) is composed of members representing 70 state, territorial, and allied veterinary medical groups – a delegate and an alternate delegate from each organization. The HOD sets association policies and elects the seven-member House Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations to both the House and the Board of Directors. The House of Delegates meets twice a year: each summer at AVMA Convention and each winter at the Veterinary Leadership Conference.
