On recommendation of the Council on Biologic and Therapeutic Agents, the Executive Board approved a revision of the description of the Codex Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Food. The description now states that the board will designate an alternate representative for a three-year term. Previously, only a representative was designated. Dr. John T. Waddell, Sutton, Neb., will serve as the new alternate representative.

The board approved AVMA representation on the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices' Anthrax Working Group. Microbiologist Dr. Christopher Chase, Brookings, S.D., was appointed to serve. Dr. David L. McCrystle, District X board representative, put forward the recommendation on behalf of COBTA.

Also, the board approved additional travel funds for two council members and one member from the Clinical Practitioners Advisory Committee to meet one day prior to the spring 2008 CPAC/COBTA meeting to discuss the claims of therapeutic pet diets with representatives from pet food manufacturers.
