Veterinary opportunities in CDC public health training programs

UNDER REVIEW

The AVMA encourages the CDC to continue to provide opportunities for veterinarians and veterinary students in CDC’s public health training programs such as the Epidemic Intelligence Service, the Preventive Medicine Fellowship, the CDC/CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship Program, the Epidemiology Elective Program and the Population Health Training in Place Program. Veterinarians contribute unique and critical skills in epidemiology and preventive medicine to the field of public health. The inclusion of veterinarians in these programs helps ensure that the public health workforce is well equipped to promote the health of human populations.
