Updated June 29, 2023

Event

The World Veterinary Association (WVA) held its 38th WVA Congress in Taipei, Taiwan, from April 26-29.

Program

The congress, held in partnership with the Taiwanese VMA, drew approximately 2,500 participants and featured diverse streams covering various aspects of veterinary medicine, including clinical practice, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and academic research. Among the attendees were Dr. Mark Schipp, past president of the World Organisation for Animal Health, and representatives from the Taiwanese Council for Agriculture.

Business

In the past year, the council focused mainly on creating a new website and preparing for the 9th WVA Global One Health Summit that was held in Taipei in April. During 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, the association moved forward on several projects and partnerships, including the creation of an essential medicines list for livestock in collaboration with Brooke, an international charity, and the WVA/MSD Animal Health scholarship program. The WVA also established a new secretariat to support the association.
