The AVMA announced in August that Gina Luke had joined the Association as an assistant director of its Governmental Relations Division.

Luke is responsible for advancing AVMA legislative priorities relating to appropriations, its small business agenda, and education issues. As such, she will oversee lobbying efforts on these issues.

"We are very excited to have Gina join the AVMA team as a Governmental Relations assistant director. Her extensive experience in the National Capital Region will boost our lobbying efforts and relationship building on Capitol Hill," said Dr. Mark Lutschaunig, director of the AVMA-GRD.

Luke previously worked for the American Dental Education Association, where she spent more than a decade in various roles. Most recently, she was director of legislative policy development, responsible for formulating ADEA's legislative and regulatory policy and lobbying Congress on health care and education issues.

Prior to that, Luke, who earned a BS degree from Boise State University, was the ADEA's director of state government relations and advocacy outreach, public affairs officer, and legislative analyst.

"The GRD has been a key player in Washington, D.C., for some time now, and it's an honor to join such an effective team," Luke said.
