Fairhall joins GHLIT as executive manager

Gail Fairhall, PhD, joined the staff of the AVMA Group Health and Life Insurance Trust as the new executive manager on Oct. 4. Dr. Fairhall has a doctorate in clinical social work and formerly worked as a health care executive.

"Dr. Fairhall is an energetic, caring person who has knowledge of the insurance arena and health professions. She will be a definite asset for the GHLIT in this position," said Dr. Jody Johnson, chair of the GHLIT board of trustees.

In the newly created position, Dr. Fairhall will carry out the policies and directives of the trustees and manage the day-to-day affairs of GHLIT. She will promote the insurance needs of veterinarians and veterinary students and work with the trustees in refining current GHLIT services and developing new programs, services, and products.

"I am thrilled to be coming on board," Dr. Fairhall said. "I think it's a terrific opportunity to work with people dedicated to advancing the profession."

Prior to joining GHLIT, Dr. Fairhall held leadership and management positions with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Alzheimer's Association, HCA Healthcare Corporation, and Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center.
