A search is under way for a new director for the AVMA Governmental Relations Division in Washington, D.C., following the April 16 announcement that Dr. Niall B. Finnegan will retire June 30. AVMA Executive Vice President Bruce W. Little announced that Dr. Finnegan had submitted a letter of resignation and retirement.

An advertisement for Dr. Finnegan's replacement appears in this issue.

Four years ago Dr. Finnegan retired from military service to begin his civilian career with the AVMA, becoming Governmental Relations Division director July 1, 1998. He had first become involved with the AVMA Washington office when he was selected as the inaugural Uniformed Services/AVMA Congressional Fellow for 1992-1993. The former Army Veterinary Corps colonel has 20 years of military experience-two on a Navy carrier and 18 in public health and regulatory veterinary medicine with the Army Veterinary Corps.
