A representative from the AVMA PLIT will attend the next meeting of the AVMA Committee on the Human-Animal Bond to discuss potential liability insurance concerns relative to human-animal bond activities.

Dr. James E. Nave, AVMA president, and the Long-Range Planning Committee made the recommendation, which the Executive Board approved, given the growing popularity of some humane societies' opinions that may differ from the AVMA's opinions on animal welfare issues.

It is critical that the AVMA foster and maintain the positive relationship between the veterinary medical profession and the humane groups. The recommendation is intended to bring the committee and PLIT together to discuss these issues.
