New council members elected

Summer 2011

The AVMA House of Delegates, at the July 2011 annual meeting, elected Dr. John Scamahorn representing private clinical practice, Dr. Lesile Garry Adams representing academic veterinary medicine research, and Dr. Philip Kass representing veterinary preventive medicine, to the Council on Education.

Dr. Scamahorn is a private clinical practitioner and owner of the Animal Medical Clinic P.C., a mixed animal practice in Greencastle, Indiana. He earned a DVM from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. He has also served on the AVMA Executive Board and the AVMA House of Delegates.

Dr. Adams is a professor of veterinary pathology at Texas A&M University. His degrees include a DVM and a PhD in veterinary pathology (anatomic) from Texas A&M. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.

Dr. Kass is a professor of analytic epidemiology at the School of Veterinary Medicine and the School of Medicine, University of California-Davis. His degrees include a DVM, an MPVM and a PhD in comparative pathology/epidemiology all from the University of California-Davis. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
