Explore the new Journey for Teams learning module

Have you heard the term “psychological safety”? It refers to the shared belief by members of a team that the team is a safe group in which to take risks. Research shows that psychologically safe workplaces contribute to greater wellbeing, better team performance, and even improved patient outcomes in healthcare settings.

A new educational module released Wednesday by Journey for Teams explores the meaning and importance of psychological safety, and provides actionable steps veterinary teams can take to support it in the workplace.

Explore psychological safety now in learning module 3 on the Journey for Teams website.

What is Journey for Teams?

Journey for Teams is a voluntary program that provides a shared path for everyone in our profession to deepen knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and advance it in our workplaces. Developed by the AVMA in partnership with the Veterinary Medical Association Executives, Journey for Teams releases a new 15-minute educational module each month, along with practical steps to help teams create change.

Visit JourneyForTeams.org to learn more and to catch up on earlier educational modules covering these topics:

  • The power of diversity
  • Unconscious bias

Expand your role; Become a navigator

Journey for Teams works best for groups when there is a workplace advocate—a navigator—committed to downloading content, organizing meetings, and facilitating discussion. With each educational module, Journey for Teams provides dedicated resources to support navigators. Are you interested in becoming a navigator? Learn more about this important role.

Journey for Teams, developed by the AVMA in collaboration with the Veterinary Medical Association Executives, is generously supported by many industry partners.
