Santa’s veterinary team approves reindeer for takeoff
The red nose gets the green light
Every year, it’s the responsibility of the president of the AVMA to ensure Santa’s reindeer are ready to fly around the world—without accidentally spreading any illnesses along the way. As Official Veterinarian of the North Pole, AVMA President Dr. Rena Carlson has performed this important annual examination with the aid of Ashli Selki, past-president of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians (NAVTA).
And there’s good news to report: all Santa’s reindeer are in great shape and free of injury and disease! Because animals require a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI) before travel, Dr. Carlson’s sign-off means the reindeer team are healthy enough to help Santa deliver presents.
Take a peek behind the scenes of the veterinary examination with Rudolph and the rest of the herd in this special video. Share the YouTube video with clients and friends to help educate the public about the importance of veterinary teams in keeping animals and humans healthy around the world.
