Comment on proposed changes to educational standards

The AVMA Council on Education (COE) is seeking public comment on proposed revisions to two of its accreditation standards for veterinary medical colleges. The COE will accept comments through February 26, 2021, on proposed changes to the accreditation standards governing outcomes assessment and research programs.

The proposed changes include clarifying expectations that data must be collected from both recent graduates and their employers in order to assess educational outcomes for veterinary students.

The draft changes are available on the COE webpage for review:

• Proposed changes to Standard 11 – Outcomes assessment

The changes were proposed as part of the COE’s regular review process, in which it reviews three or four educational standards in depth each year. In addition to the standards for research programs and outcomes assessment, the COE also is reviewing Standard 1 – Organization and Standard 2 – Finance 1, and is proposing no changes to those. 

How to comment
