Does one of your colleagues go out of the way to ensure the welfare of animals? Do you know a veterinarian who deserves recognition for dedication and vigilance to animal well-being?

The AVMA Animal Welfare Committee is seeking nominations for the Animal Welfare Award for 2000. Nominations may be made by individuals or organizations until Feb 15.

The award is given to an AVMA member who has advanced animal well-being, shown exemplary dedication to animal care, and contributed to the community and society. Achievements can be through any of the following areas: leadership, public service, volunteer service, research findings, product development, public policy development, animal advocacy, or humane education. A veterinarian may be nominated for a sustained effort or an "extraordinary single achievement."

Three nominees will be chosen by the committee and transmitted to the Executive Board for selection of the winner. The recipient will be honored at the 2000 Animal Welfare Forum, Nov 10 in Chicago.
