AAHA recognizes practices of the year

The American Animal Hospital Association honored a number of AAHA-accredited practices during its yearly conference, March 20-23 in Nashville, Tenn.

Prescott Animal Hospital of Prescott, Ariz., is the 2014 AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year. Dr. Steven H. Dow and his team at the mixed animal practice earned AAHA accreditation in 1996 for the companion animal side of the business. Seven years ago, the practice relocated its Equine Center a few miles away to meet customer demand for both branches. In 2013, the practice served more than 6,000 clients.

Second place for AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year went to New Frontier Animal Medical Center of Sierra Vista, Ariz. Third place went to Kew Beach Veterinary Hospital of Toronto. A finalist was Jefferson Animal Hospital & Emergency Center of Louisville, Ky.

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets’ location in Worthington, Ohio, near Columbus, is the 2014 AAHA-Accredited Referral Practice of the Year. The specialty and emergency practice earned AAHA accreditation in 1991 and earned AAHA accreditation as a referral practice in 2013 in 11 specialties. The Columbus area is MedVet’s original home, and the original practice has grown dramatically to meet community needs. The practice’s Cancer Center opened in 2009.

A finalist for AAHA-Accredited Referral Practice of the Year was Saint Francis Veterinary Center of Woolwich Township, N.J.
