Academia

Purdue University has added Drs. Robert "Pete" L. Bill (PUR '80) and John F. Van Vleet (COR '62) to the university's Book of Great Teachers. They are among only nine professors from Purdue's School of Veterinary Medicine on the list of 316 teachers.

Dr. Bill is the director of Purdue's Veterinary Technology Program. He also served on the AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities from 1999-2005. Dr. Van Vleet is the associate dean for academic affairs at the Purdue veterinary school. He also is a professor of veterinary pathology.

Organizations

Dr. Jane E. Brunt (KSU '80) will be serving as executive director of the CATalyst Council. The new organization seeks to improve health care for cats. Dr. Brunt founded the Cat Hospital at Towson in Baltimore more than two decades ago. In 2001, she opened the Cat Hospital Eastern Shore in Cordova, Md. Dr. Brunt is a past president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Maryland VMA.
