Accolades

Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine has named Drs. James Pearson (ISU '66) and David Twedt Jr. (ISU '72) as recipients of the Stange Award for Meritorious Service, the college's highest honor for alumni.

Dr. Pearson is an international consultant representing the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). He has headed the OIE Scientific and Technical Department and served as vice president of the OIE Standards Commission. Dr. Pearson also was director of the Department of Agriculture's National Veterinary Services Laboratories, where he had led the Diagnostic Virology Laboratory for many years.

Dr. Twedt is a professor at the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Clinical Sciences. He has contributed to the education of more than 3,500 veterinarians. Dr. Twedt also is an expert in gastroenterology and hepatic diseases of small animals. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine has awarded the 2006 Distinguished Alumna Award to Dr. Mary K. Boudreaux (LSU '79). Dr. Boudreaux is a professor in the Department of Pathobiology at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her research is in the field of hemostasis, particularly with respect to platelet physiology and pathophysiology. This year, she was program director for Auburn's Veterinary Scholars Research Program. She also is active in student mentoring, faculty committees, and charitable endeavors.
