LSU seeks entries for exhibition of animals in art
Louisiana State University's School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking entries for its 19th International Exhibition on Animals in Art. The exhibition will feature art in all media on March 19-April 16, 2006, at the school's library. The deadline for entries is Jan. 20, 2006. Ann Connelly, an artist and gallery owner in Baton Rouge, La., will serve as juror and judge. The awards will include $1,000 for best of show as well as other cash prizes. Dr. Janis H. Audin, AVMA editor-in-chief, will choose one work of art to appear on a cover of the JAVMA. Some 334 artists from 43 states, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Africa submitted 777 entries last year—75 of which appeared in the exhibition. The exhibition is open to artists 18 years of age and older. Works must be original and include an animal. Artists must price all work for sale. The school will not accept works that do not meet the spirit of the show. Applicants should submit artwork as 2-by-2-inch, mounted 35 mm slides or as digital images on disk in JPG or TIF format. The maximum size of an entry is 60-by-60 inches by 48 inches. A nonrefundable, $10 fee must accompany each entry. Checks or money orders should be payable to Louisiana State University with "Animals in Art entry" in the memo line.
