Thousands to gather in San Diego July 31 – Aug. 4 for this year’s event

(SCHAUMBURG, Illinois) February 24, 2020—Registration is now open for AVMA Convention 2020, which will draw thousands of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, students and other veterinary professionals to San Diego July 31 – Aug. 4 to attend best-in-class CE sessions, network with colleagues and discover products and services to enhance their careers.

More information on the convention and registration is available at avma.org/convention.

It's appropriate that this year's convention theme is 'Powered By You,' as the AVMA and our annual convention have been more focused than ever on responding to member input and shaping the convention experience to meet their needs," said AVMA President Dr. John Howe. "From our app that lets attendees customize their on-site schedules, to an ever-increasing and diverse lineup of CE sessions, to expanded networking and entertainment options, this year's convention in sunny San Diego will be a world-class experience for veterinary professionals, shaped by veterinary professionals."

AVMA Convention 2020 attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to 40 hours of CE from a diverse offering of more than 900 education sessions presented in a variety of formats, including lectures, interactive labs, workshops, poster sessions and panels. A track of "Hot Topic" sessions will provide the latest information on timely and cutting-edge topics facing the profession today.

Hundreds of exhibitors will be on hand to showcase and discuss the latest products, services and opportunities in veterinary medicine. In addition, this year's exhibit hall will feature the Central Bark Café, where attendees can hang out with cuddly canines; a Tech Hub and Tech bar to learn more about new startups and technology in the field; and the AVMA Pavilion, where representatives from the AVMA will be available to discuss what's new with the association.

The keynote at AVMA Convention 2020 will be presented by Patrice Washington, an award-winning author, transformational speaker, hope-restoring coach, media personality and top-rated host of the Redefining Wealth podcast, where she encourages others to "chase purpose, not money." Her session will empower attendees to embrace wellbeing and wealth-building by leaning into the areas of life that matter most.

There will be plenty of entertainment options at this year's convention as well. This includes AVMA's second "Battle of the Bands" contest, where last year's winner will face off against two competitors aboard the U.S.S. Midway, followed by a fireworks display.

Another event that will be repeated at AVMA Convention 2020 following a successful debut at last year's convention is the Veterinary Career Mix & Mingle, sponsored by the AVMA Veterinary Career Center. This event will allow attendees to connect and chat with employers from all fields of veterinary medicine, make new connections, practice their elevator pitches and polish their conversational skills in a relaxed and informal setting.

A new addition to this year's convention will be AVMA's first-ever lip-sync competition, during the "Live Life Love All" event, open to all AVMA Convention attendees.
