The Ohio VMA (OVMA) held its Midwest Veterinary Conference from February 20-22 in Columbus.
Awards
Veterinarian of the Year
Dr. Liesa Stone (Ohio State ’83), Cedarville. Dr. Stone is assistant dean for institutional advancement, executive director of strategic engagements, and chief advancement officer at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She previously led the veterinary services technical team for Bayer Animal Health. Earlier in her career, Dr. Stone was in private practice, taught at Texas A&M University and St. Petersburg Junior College, and worked for the pet food company Iams. She is a past president of the OVMA and is the Ohio delegate to the AVMA House of Delegates.
Distinguished Service Award
Dr. Kevin Corcoran (Ohio State ’80), Xenia. A diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine, Dr. Corcoran worked for Proctor & Gamble prior to retirement. During his career, he has also worked for Springborn Laboratories and provided his services to 4 Paws for Ability and Central State University. Dr. Corcoran is a veteran of the Army Veterinary Corps. From 2018-24, he served as treasurer of the OVMA.
