posted June 16, 2009 Early experience with a program established to provide vaccines to equine rescue and retirement facilities indicates that the program is fulfilling an important need. The Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign is composed of veterinarians and qualifying organizations that hold rescued or retired horses. It was established jointly by Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. The American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and Merial teamed up again this year to put on the National Service Dog Eye Exam Day during the first week of May. The event brought together more than 150 board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists across the United States and Canada to provide free sight-saving eye examinations to more than 1,500 dogs.
