In mid-February, the AVMA signed a new memorandum of understanding with the Department of Health and Human Services to help clarify the roles of each entity in providing veterinary services during disasters and other emergencies. The memorandum sets the stage for ongoing coordination between the AVMA and the HHS.
This April in Los Angeles, one of the nation's strictest pet sterilization laws takes effect, mandating that most of the city's pet owners have their cat or dog spayed or neutered by the time the animal is four months old.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention welcomed 360 veterinary students and faculty members to the Atlanta campus in late January for the second CDC Veterinary Student Day.
