Students at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland, have been awarded official charter status by the Student AVMA.


Large swaths of Southern California saw devastation when wildfires ravaged areas around Los Angeles and San Diego only two months after Northern California saw similar destruction from wildfires. Santa Ana winds moved the fires so quickly and so unpredictably that those fleeing had only minutes to leave. Most did manage to evacuate, but at least 75 horses died in two separate incidents.


The National Alliance of State Animal and Agricultural Emergency Programs presented the NASAAEP Service Award to Drs. Arnold L. Goldman and Warren Hess during the alliance’s 2017 summit, Dec. 5-7 in Gulfport, Mississippi. The award recognizes service to the alliance and contributions to furthering local, state, and federal capabilities for responding to the needs of animals during emergencies.
