Industry coalition recruiting veterinary practice leaders to participate in engagement survey

An industry coalition is recruiting veterinary practice leaders to take part in a pilot survey seeking to improve employee retention and engagement.

The Revitalizing Veterinary Teams, Amplifying Fulfillment and Purpose (REVAMP) initiative, spearheaded by Zoetis, is commissioning a survey to evaluate workplace well-being, with the goal of improving employee retention and engagement.

Helmed by Dr. Richard Goldstein, global chief medical officer and head of medical affairs at Zoetis, the project seeks to address what it calls “systemic challenges” in the profession, with an emphasis on veterinary health teams (VHTs).

“VHTs have expressed a need for fair compensation, appreciation, career development, and supportive leadership,” Beth Wymer, director of member groups at Zoetis and REVAMP engagement survey project lead, told AVMA News. “Today, despite varied and separate initiatives focused on addressing VHT needs and priorities, the industry faces a challenge in consistently delivering these essential elements and optimally leveraging these teams, resulting in a widespread feeling of VHTs being overworked and unfulfilled.”

The REVAMP initiative—seeking to support a strong talent pipeline for a well-balanced profession—includes representation from individual practitioners to corporations, as well as VMAs, hospitals, and institutions.

Since it launched at the 2024 Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX), the group analyzing common veterinary workforce challenges has identified the three priority areas: in-clinic technology, credentialed veterinary technician utilization, and workplace culture of teamwork.

REVAMP is recruiting veterinary practice leaders to participate in an engagement survey throughout the month of June. The invitation-only survey aims to evaluate employee retention and engagement.

The REVAMP employee engagement survey is its latest initiative in the workplace culture area.

Zoetis has commissioned Qualtrics to conduct the survey with a target registration of 100 small animal practices in the U.S. each with at least two practice leaders, three veterinarians, and 15 employees.

The survey is by invitation-only, and invited participants will have the month of June to complete the 60-question survey.

Coalition representatives say the goal is to share survey results at VMX 2026.
