Indiana VMA – January 30-February 1, 2025

Event

The Indiana VMA (IVMA) held its Crossroads Veterinary Conference from January 30-February 1 in Noblesville.

Program

The conference drew more than 475 registrants. On offer were 20 hours of continuing education. Awards were presented during the membership meeting on January 30.

Awards

Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. G. Kay Boyd (Purdue ’75), Kentland. Dr. Boyd is the founder of Kentland Veterinary Clinic. A past chair of the IVMA board of directors, she has served on the Indiana Board of Veterinary Medicine, Indiana State Board of Animal Health, and the Indiana Board of Pharmacy’s Controlled Substances Advisory Committee.

President’s Award

Dr. S. Kathleen Salisbury (Michigan State ’79), West Lafayette. Dr. Salisbury is associate dean for academic affairs at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, she also serves as a professor of small animal surgery at the veterinary college.

Volunteer of the Year

Dr. Nathan Rich (Purdue ’06), New Castle, for leadership or service to a project or program of the association. Dr. Rich owns Country Acre Animal Clinic in New Castle. A past president of the IVMA, he has served on several IVMA committees. Dr. Rich is active with the Indiana Animal Health Foundation and oversees IVMA wet laboratories and continuing education.

Achievement Award

Dr. Kayla Baird (Purdue ’21), Milroy, won this award, given to an IVMA member who has graduated within the preceding five years and has made outstanding accomplishments in veterinary research, civic activities, academia, or organized veterinary medicine. Dr. Baird practices at Jackson Animal Clinic in Milroy. She serves on the IVMA board of directors and has been involved with the IVMA Rural Workforce Strike Team.
