AVMF, VPRF announce veterinary pharmacology fellowship grant
The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) and the Veterinary Pharmacology Research Foundation (VPRF) have partnered to fund a student fellowship with a focus on veterinary pharmacology.
Previously, the two organizations funded two pharmacology research grants annually. This new joint venture, the Veterinary Pharmacology Research Foundation Student Fellowship, supports research projects designed to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases in animals.
One recipient will be selected and awarded up to $10,000. The grant will fund a one-year fellowship to support training, professional travel, stipends, or other scholarly activities for a graduate student who plans to have a career in veterinary pharmacology research.
To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at a U.S.-based institution for at least one year at time of application and be in good standing. They must also be a current member of the American Academy of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
“VPRF is very excited to partner with AVMF to offer our first student fellowship grant,” said Dr. Jane G. Owens, VPRF president. “This fellowship furthers our long-term goal of increasing the number and quality of trained veterinary pharmacology researchers.”
The deadline to apply for this grant is August 16 and the application is available on the AVMF website. A decision will be made on September 29.
