The American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners (AASRP) held its annual meeting virtually on August 15.
Awards
Dr. Don E. Bailey Practitioner of the Year
Dr. Jon E. Higgins (Pennsylvania ’89), Hillsborough, New Jersey. Dr Higgins owns Acorn Farmvets, a mobile food animal practice in New Jersey. The practice focuses on ruminant herd health medicine, with an emphasis on reproduction and embryo transfer.
George McConnell Award
Dr. Joan Dean Rowe (California-Davis ’80), Capay, California. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Dr. Rowe is a professor emeritus of population health and reproduction at the University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She is a past president of the AASRP and has held several leadership positions within the dairy goat industry.
Business
Yearly reports were presented by various individuals and entities, including the chairs of AASRP committees, AASRP’s liaison to the AVMA Board of Directors, and AASRP special working groups.
