AVMA is currently seeking volunteers to fill the following positions. As a volunteer, your travel, lodging, and meals are covered by the AVMA.

- Council nomination form (nominations will be made from the floor of the House of Delegates Annual Session)
To assist delegates and alternate delegates in choosing individuals for officer, HAC, and council positions, the AVMA OEVP will prepare a yearly campaign guide listing nominees for these positions. Nominees will be included only if they have provided an appropriate biographical sketch and photograph, and submitted an application or nomination form by the May 1 deadline. Council nominees must also submit a link to a two-minute introductory YouTube video.
Nominations received after the deadline will be announced from the floor of the House. However, information regarding these candidates is limited to the information contained on the nomination form.
Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) positions
Applications DUE FEBRUARY 15, 2023
Six positions will be open in 2023 for volunteers to serve on AVMA's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA).
- Representing veterinary technicians (3 positions)
- Representing clinical veterinary medicine, small animal (veterinarian)
- Representing faculties of colleges of veterinary medicine (veterinarian)
- Representing veterinary medicine industry (veterinarian or veterinary technician) (filling unexpired term 2022-2028)
The CVTEA selection committee selects these positions.
Applications will open mid-December and are due February 15, 2023. Terms begin July 2023.

President-elect (2023-24)
NOMINATIONS DUE JULY 10, 2023
Nominations continue to be accepted for the position of AVMA president-elect for the 2023-24 Association year. The nomination deadline to formally announce candidacy and present to the House of Delegates has passed.

President-elect (2024-25)
NOMINATIONS DUE JUNE 17, 2024
For AVMA president-elect for the 2024-25 association year, the nomination deadline to formally announce candidacy and present to the House of Delegates is April 1, 2023. Nominations will be accepted for this position until June 17, 2024.

Vice President (2024-26)
NOMINATIONS DUE JUNE 17, 2024
For AVMA vice president for the period June 2024-26 association year, the nomination deadline to formally announce candidacy and present to the House of Delegates is April 1, 2023. Nominations will be accepted for this position until June 17, 2024.

Council on Education (COE) positions
Applications ongoing
Four positions will be appointed to fill expiring terms on the AVMA Council on Education (AVMA COE):
- Basic science—An individual active in this field who is a member of the faculty of a university having an accredited school or college of veterinary medicine or a department of veterinary science
- Veterinary preventive medicine—An individual involved in the field of epidemiology, public health, regulatory, or military veterinary medicine
- Private clinical practice—An individual engaged exclusively in private clinical practice
- Public member—A non-veterinarian who is not any of the following:
- An employee, member of the governing board, owner, or shareholder of, or consultant to, an institution or program that either is accredited or pre-accredited by the Council on Education or has applied for accreditation or pre-accreditation
- A member of any trade association or membership organization related to, affiliated with, or associated with the COE
- A spouse, parent, child, or sibling of any of the individuals listed above
