AVMA Volunteer Opportunities - Vacancies

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the AVMA! As a volunteer, your travel, lodging, and meals are covered by the AVMA. We currently are seeking volunteers to fill the following positions:

AVMA Board of Directors

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Dr. Seyedmehdi Mobini has been elected as the District IV Director position on the Board of Directors (2020-2026).

Dr. Sandy Willis has been elected as the District XI Director position on the Board of Directors (2020-2026).

Both positions will officially be seated at the AVMA Convention in San Diego in August 2020.


Committee Positions

Nominations due date is March 31, 2020 for positions to be appointed during April 2020 BOD meeting

Nominations for unfilled positions are accepted until the positions are filled at a subsequent BOD meeting.

Council Positions

Nominations due date is April 1, 2020 for positions to be appointed during HOD Annual Session.

Nominations for unfilled positions are accepted until the positions are filled at a subsequent HOD meeting.

List of Council Positions Available

To assist delegates and alternate delagates in choosing individuals for officer, HAC, and council positions, the AVMA OEVP will prepare a yearly Campaign Guide listing nominees for these positions. Nominees will be included only if they have provided an appropriate biographical sketch and photograph, and submiitted an application or nomination form by the April 1 deadline. Council nominees must also submit a link to a 2-minute introductory YouTube video.

Nominations received after the deadline will be announced from the floor of the House; however, information regarding these candidates is limited to the information contained on the nomination form.


AVMA Officers

Nominations accepted until July 26, 2021.

Nominations are being accepted for candidates for the position of AVMA President-Elect for the August 2021 – August 2022 Association Year.

American Board of Veterinary Specialties Positions

Nominations are due on October 10 with terms beginning February 2020.

The AVMA is seeking volunteers to serve as members representing non-board certified veterinarians on the American Board of Veterinary Specialties (ABVS). Two positions are open: one representing large animal practice and one representing companion animal practice (2 year initial term).

Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) Positions

Nomination due dates are ending MARCH 16, 2020.

Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) Positions

Volunteers are now invited to serve on AVMA's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA). Three positions are open:

  • Representing veterinary technicians
  • Veterinarian representing Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Small Animal
  • Veterinarian representing At-Large
  • Representing the public (Public representatives ONLY – submit a two-page resume and complete the nomination form at this link)

Applications are due March 16, 2020 with terms beginning July 2020.

Council on Education (COE) Positions

Applications are due on March 15 with terms beginning August 2020.

Volunteers are now invited to serve on AVMA's Council on Education (COE). Two positions are open: Private Small Animal Clinical Practice and Small Animal Clinical Service.
