Forum on Demand, June 10-Dec. 31

Program

The college, whose 2020 annual forum was canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions, has provided part of the canceled forum via prerecorded webinars on a virtual platform starting June 10. These consist of more than 80 recorded sessions, over 300 ePoster research abstracts, and more than 79 continuing education credits approved by the Registry of Approved Continuing Education. All content will be available until Dec. 31 and can be accessed at registrants’ convenience via the college’s forum website and mobile app.

Awards

Robert W. Kirk Award for Professional Excellence
Dr. David Twedt (Iowa State ’72), Fort Collins, Colorado, for outstanding achievements and dedicated service to the veterinary profession. Dr. Twedt is a professor of small animal internal medicine in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. He is known for his expertise in liver and gastrointestinal diseases in dogs and cats and has developed techniques using endoscopy and laparoscopy to visualize a patient’s internal structures. A diplomate of the ACVIM and a past president of the college’s specialty in small animal internal medicine, Dr. Twedt served as co-editor of “Kirk’s Current Veterinary Therapy,” volumes 14 and 15.

ACVIM Lee and Inge Pyle Service Award
Dr. Rebecca Gompf (Ohio State ’75), Knoxville, Tennessee, for outstanding and dedicated service to the college in a volunteer capacity. Dr. Gompf is an associate professor of small animal clinical sciences at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, where her clinical and research interests focus on cardiology. A diplomate of the ACVIM, she served as the college’s secretary of cardiology for 33 consecutive years and is a past chair of several of its committees.
