Of the registered attendees at the meeting, 2,572 were veterinarians, 360 were veterinary technicians, and 141 were veterinary students.

Awards

Robert W. Kirk Award for Professional Excellence
Dr. Bradford Smith (California-Davis '70), Davis, California, for outstanding achievements and dedicated service to the veterinary profession. Dr. Smith is a professor emeritus at the University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He served as chief of the Large Animal Medicine Service, was associate dean for clinical programs, and directed the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. A diplomate of the ACVIM, Dr. Smith is the principle author and organizer of the textbook "Large Animal Internal Medicine."

ACVIM Lee and Inge Pyle Service Award
Dr. Leah Cohn (Tennessee '86), Columbia, Missouri, for outstanding and dedicated service to the college in a volunteer capacity. Dr. Cohn serves as a professor of veterinary internal medicine and is chief of the small animal internal medicine service at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a diplomate and a past president of the ACVIM.

International Renal Interest Society Osborne Award
Dr. Stephen DiBartola (California-Davis '76), Columbus, Ohio, for his contributions to the field of veterinary nephrology. A diplomate of the ACVIM, Dr. DiBartola is a professor emeritus in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. His research interests focus on reactive amyloidosis and polycystic kidney disease. Dr. DiBartola is co-editor in chief of the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the author of "Fluid, Electrolyte, and Acid-Base Disorders in Small Animal Practice."
