The article "New York becomes first state to outlaw cat declawing" in the Aug. 1, 2019, issue of JAVMA News, incorrectly reported that New York had become the first state to outlaw cat declawing. Although the state legislature in June passed a bill making the procedure illegal, as of mid-July, the bill had not yet been sent to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
