Foundation awards more grants to study tick-borne disease

​The American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation announced July 25 that it had awarded two more grants through its Tick-Borne Disease Initiative.  

The studies are as follows:

  • “Enhanced testing for the diagnosis of bartonellosis in dogs,” Dr. Edward B. Breitschwerdt, North Carolina State University, $103,013.
  • “Broad-range detection of canine tick-borne disease and improved diagnostics using next-generation sequencing,” Dr. Pedro Paul Diniz, Western University of Health Sciences, $60,717.
