Robert A. Agne
Dr. Agne (North Carolina State ’03), 54, Granville, New York, died Sept. 7, 2015. He practiced at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York, focusing on equine podiatry. Earlier in his career, Dr. Agne worked at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital’s location in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a founding member of the Veterinary Equine Podiatry Group. Dr. Agne’s wife, Carrie, survives him.
Thomas L. Brown
Dr. Brown (Washington State ’63), 82, Woodland, Washington, died Sept. 28, 2015. He was the founder of Columbia Veterinary Center in Vancouver, Washington, where he initially practiced mixed animal medicine, focusing on small animals from 1977 until retirement in 1993.
Dr. Brown is survived by his wife, Mary; four children and three stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Jerry B. Burkey
Dr. Burkey (Kansas State ’68), 72, Milford, Nebraska, died June 8, 2015. He began his career as an assistant herd veterinarian with the Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Maryland. Dr. Burkey subsequently moved to Nebraska and established Clock Tower Animal Clinic in Lincoln, where he practiced small animal medicine for 42 years.
He also raised, bred, and showed American Quarter Horses for most of his life.
Dr. Burkey retired in 2013. He is survived by his wife, Susan; a daughter and two sons; and six grandchildren.
Carl H. Clark
Dr. Clark (Washington State ’47), 89, Auburn, Alabama, died Sept. 8, 2015. He headed the former Department of Physiology at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine for almost 40 years prior to retirement in 1992. Dr. Clark also served as a professor at the college and helped establish animal health research and safety programs. In 1963, he received what is now known as the Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award. He was a past president of what was known as the American Society of Veterinary Physiologists and Pharmacologists. Dr. Clark is survived by his wife, Joanne; a son; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Carl H. Kenneth L. Knoernschild
Dr. Knoernschild (Missouri ’53), 90, Quincy, Illinois, died Oct. 28, 2015. He practiced mixed animal medicine in Quincy from 1953 until retirement in 1990. Dr. Knoernschild was a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and a lifetime member of the Illinois State and Missouri VMAs. He was also an honor roll member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation. Dr. Knoernschild served in the Navy during World War II. His wife, Ann; a son and a daughter; and four grandchildren survive him. Dr. Knoernschild’s nephew, Dr. John L. Morgan (Missouri ’76), is a small animal veterinarian in St. Peters, Missouri.
Arthur M. Langdon
Dr. Langdon (Pennsylvania ’45), 95, Stow, Ohio, died June 4, 2015. He began his career in the Army Veterinary Corps during World War II. Dr. Langdon subsequently established a practice in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where he worked until retirement. He was a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Animal Hospital Association, and Pennsylvania VMA. His three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren survive him. His son, Dr. Brian Langdon (Ross ’86), is in mixed animal practice in Meadville. Brenda C. Love
Dr. Love (Oklahoma State ’90), 49, Stillwater, Oklahoma, died June 3, 2015. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists, she worked as a veterinary microbiologist at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Love is survived by her son.
John A. Mulnix
Dr. Mulnix (Colorado State ’63), 76, Fort Collins, Colorado, died July 16, 2015. He owned a small animal practice in Fort Collins for more than 30 years. Earlier, Dr. Mulnix practiced in Lubbock, Texas. During his career, he also taught and conducted research at Cornell University, Colorado State University, and the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Dr. Mulnix is survived by his wife, Charlene, and children and grandchildren.
Lee Kellie Sims
Dr. Sims (Texas A&M ’95), 46, Bryan, Texas, died Sept. 15, 2015. A mixed animal veterinarian, she owned Petdoc, a mobile practice based in Bryan, for 20 years.
