The award program honors FFA members who have developed special skills that they can apply to their future careers. The AVMA sponsors the award in veterinary science.

Wyant is the manager of the Livingston County Humane Society. She started out as a volunteer walking dogs and socializing cats. Because of the relationships she developed, when the manager position opened up, she applied for and received the job. As manager, she assists with basic veterinary procedures including disease testing and vaccine administration.

The other finalists in the category of veterinary science were Naomi Sloan of Florida, Coleman Sanders of Oklahoma, and Meredith Glaister of Texas.
