AKC names chief veterinary officer

The American Kennel Club announced Oct. 5 that the organization has appointed Dr. Jerry Klein as chief veterinary officer.

Dr. Klein (Ohio State ’79) is the supervising veterinarian at the Chicago Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center. He is an active member of The Afghan Hound Club of America and the Fox Terrier Club of Chicago. Dr. Klein has been a licensed judge for the AKC for 30 years, judging on both the national and international levels.
As chief veterinary officer, Dr. Klein will act as the AKC's official spokesperson and policy leader surrounding the organization's health commitments. He will serve as the organization’s principal authority on canine health and veterinary policy and initiate relevant wellness campaigns.
