Olson appointed to agricultural advisory board

The U.S. secretary of agriculture announced April 8 the appointment of Dr. Neil Olson to serve on the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education, and Economics Advisory Board.

Dr. Olson (MIN ‘75) has been dean of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine since 2007 and will represent veterinary colleges on the advisory board during a three-year term expiring Sept. 30, 2016. The board advises the agriculture secretary and land-grant colleges and universities on top national priorities and policies for food and agricultural research, education, extension, and economics.

Previously, Dr. Olson had been senior associate dean for research and graduate studies at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine since 1998. He also had served there as director of graduate programs, the Summer Research Internship Program, and the Biomedical Imaging Center. He joined the college faculty in 1982.
