Neil D. Beckenhauer

Dr. Beckenhauer (KSU '43), 94, Manhattan, Kan., died April 2, 2010. Prior to retirement in 1979, he served as a public health officer and inspector for the state of North Carolina. Following graduation, Dr. Beckenhauer established a practice in Wahoo, Neb. Shortly thereafter, he was called into Army service. Dr. Beckenhauer resumed his practice in 1946. From 1947-1968, he served in the Air Force, retiring as colonel. He then worked briefly at the Dykstra Veterinary Hospital at Kansas State University. A veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, Dr. Beckenhauer received several honors, including the Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, and American Campaign Medal. He is survived by his wife, Dorris; a son; and a daughter.

Thomas J. Clarke III

Dr. Clarke (OSU '62), 72, Cincinnati, died Feb. 13, 2010. He practiced small animal medicine for 43 years, owning practices in Ohio at Kenwood, Milford, and Wyoming. Dr. Clarke was a past director of the American Animal Hospital Association, Ohio VMA, and Cincinnati VMA. Active in civic life, he was past vice president of the Hamilton County Board of Health and served on the Indian Hill Board of Health. Dr. Clarke's two daughters and a son survive him. John Fredenburg

Dr. Fredenburg (KSU '80), 61, Swansboro, N.C., died Dec. 21, 2009. He was a mixed animal practitioner.

R. Gordon Greeley

Dr. Greeley (MO '53), 86, Bryan, Texas, died Nov. 29, 2009. Prior to retirement, he owned practices in Missouri and Texas and served as a professor of veterinary anatomy at Texas A&M University for 14 years. Dr. Greeley was a veteran of the Marine Corps. His son survives him.

Allen F. Hawley

Dr. Hawley (CAL '60), 74, Apple Valley, Calif., died Dec. 1, 2009. A small animal practitioner, he owned Victor Valley Veterinary Clinic in Victorville, Calif. Following graduation, Dr. Hawley practiced in Riverside, Calif., for a year. He was a member of the California VMA. Dr. Hawley is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons; two daughters; and a stepson. Joseph H. Mattare

Dr. Mattare (KSU '67), 68, Vista, Calif., died Jan. 29, 2010. He was a mixed animal practitioner.

Thomas A. Newland

Dr. Newland (WSU '54), 90, Huntington Beach, Calif., died Jan. 25, 2010. A mixed animal practitioner, he owned Chatsworth Veterinary Hospital in Chatsworth, Calif., prior to retirement. Dr. Newland was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Victoria; three daughters; and a son survive him. Memorials may be made to Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, P.O. George T. Reed

Dr. Reed (OSU '65), 69, Millersburg, Ohio, died May 3, 2010. Prior to retirement in 2005, he served as health commissioner for Warren County, Ohio. Earlier in his career, Dr. Reed practiced mixed animal medicine in Mason, Ohio. He was a member of the Ohio VMA. Dr. Reed is survived by his wife, Barbara, and two daughters. Fred R. Robertson III

Dr. Robertson (AUB '70), 65, Greenwood, S.C., died May 8, 2010. A small animal practitioner, he owned and was a partner at Greenwood Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Robertson's wife, Lynn; a son; and a daughter survive him. Memorials may be made to Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202.

Billy J. Robinson

Dr. Robinson (OKL '64), 74, Leesville, La., died Jan. 4, 2010. A mixed animal practitioner, he was the founder of Leesville Animal Clinic. Dr. Robinson was a past president of the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association and a member of the Louisiana VMA, American Angus Association, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and Vernon Parish Cattlemen's Association. In 2007, the LVMA honored him with the Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Robinson was a veteran of the Air Force and served in the Gulf War from 1990-1991. He retired as lieutenant colonel in 1997. Dr. Robinson is survived by two daughters and two sons.

Norman E. Stanger

Dr. Stanger (ONT '55), 82, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, died April 2, 2010. Prior to retirement in 1993, he served as a professor and clinical veterinarian in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Manitoba for 32 years. Following graduation, Dr. Stanger practiced briefly in Arborg, Canada, before joining the veterinary laboratory at the university. During his tenure at the university, he also took care of the animals on campus and at the university's Glenlea Experimental Farm. In 1994, the Norman E. Stanger Prize in Pre-Veterinary Studies was established at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Stanger is survived by his wife, Patricia. Memorials may be made to the Norman E.
