Danie Bishop

Dr. Bishop (SMV '10), 45, Pittston, Pa., died April 14, 2010. He was an associate veterinarian at Shoemaker Avenue Animal Hospital in Wyoming, Pa., where he practiced with his father, Dr. Robert W. Bishop (IL '63). Dr. Bishop was president-elect of the Pittston Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Theresa.

Ray H. Bradbury

Dr. Bradbury (WSU '41), 93, Mount Vernon, Wash., died Feb. 6, 2010. Prior to retirement in the mid-1970s, he owned a mixed animal practice in Mount Vernon, focusing on dairy medicine. Dr. Bradbury also served as veterinarian for the Puyallup Fair and owned a wildlife retreat in Skagit County, participating in the rehabilitation and release of endangered species. In 1971, the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine honored him with the John E. McCoy Memorial Award for being an outstanding general practitioner. Dr. Bradbury was named Washington State Veterinarian of the Year in 1979. Active in civic life, he was involved with the 4-H Club and what is now the National FFA Organization and was a life member of the Elks Club. Dr. Bradbury's daughter and son survive him.

John J. Clark

Dr. Clark (GA '53), 87, Kalamazoo, Mich., died March 18, 2010. Prior to retirement in 2002, he was a veterinary pathologist with what was known as the Pharmacia and Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo, Mich., for more than 40 years. During his career, Dr. Clark served on the company's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Pfizer Inc. continues to honor him annually by presenting The John J. Clark Veterinary Animal Technician Award to recognize employees upholding his high standards of animal care. Dr. Clark was a Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by a daughter and two sons. Rollin J. Cowles

Dr. Cowles (ISU '50), 88, Burlington, Iowa, died Jan. 22, 2010. From 1976-1986, he was administrator of the Des Moines County Department of Public Health. Prior to that, Dr. Cowles practiced mixed animal medicine at Burlington Veterinary Hospital. He was a veteran of the Iowa National Guard. Active in civic life, Dr. Cowles served on the Burlington School Board and Iowa Wesleyan College Board, was past president of the United Nations of Southeast Iowa and past chair of the Sierra Club Leopold Group, and founded Planned Parenthood of Southeast Iowa. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and The Nature Conservancy. Dr. Cowles' wife, Betty, and six children survive him. Maurice G. De Laney

Dr. De Laney (MSU '55), 87, Waterford, Mich., died Nov. 7, 2009. He was a small animal practitioner.

Milton Engle

Dr. Engle (MO '51), 88, Adair, Iowa, died Feb. 15, 2010. A small animal practitioner, he owned a practice in Adair prior to retirement in 1987. Dr. Engle was a member of the Iowa VMA. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Dr. Engle's two sons and a daughter survive him. Stuart R. Exstrom

Dr. Exstrom (COL '45), 88, Carmichael, Calif., died May 16, 2010. Prior to retirement in 1984, he owned Rio Linda Veterinary Clinic, a small animal practice in Rio Linda, Calif., for more than 40 years. Earlier in his career, Dr. Exstrom worked for the California State Department of Agriculture, assisting with the eradication of pullorum disease in livestock. He was a member of the Rio Linda Chamber of Commerce, Rio Linda-Elverta Historical Society, and Elks Club. Dr. Exstrom is survived by his wife, Mary; a son; and two daughters. His son, Dr. Richard S. Exstrom (CAL '72), is a small animal practitioner in Placerville, Calif. Memorials may be made to Christian Veterinary Mission, 19303 Fremont Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133.

Leslie O. Foelschow

Dr. Foelschow (KSU '43), 96, Clovis, Calif., died Feb. 27, 2010.

Fred G. Goldstein

Dr. Goldstein (OSU '58), 79, Marion, Ohio, died Dec. 28, 2009. He practiced small animal medicine in the Reynoldsburg area of Ohio for 40 years. Dr. Goldstein was a veteran of the Army and Ohio National Guard. His daughter and three sons survive him. John L. Innes

Dr. Innes (ISU '45), 86, Asheville, N.C., died May 6, 2010. Prior to retirement in 1996, he owned a practice in Asheville, focusing on bovine medicine. Dr. Innes was a member of the North Carolina VMA. He served in the Army Veterinary Corps during World War II and the Korean War. Dr. Innes was a member of the Buncombe County Board of Health for nine years. His wife, Donna; two sons; and two daughters survive him. Memorials may be made to New City Christian School, P.O. Joseph J. Johnson

Dr. Johnson (GA '54), 83, Silver Spring, Md., died March 7, 2010. He was a mixed animal practitioner.

Roy J. Milleret

Dr. Milleret (KSU '44), 88, Manhattan, Kan., died April 6, 2010. Prior to retirement, he was a member of the veterinary faculty at Kansas State University, where he worked as a pathologist in the Department of Surgery and Medicine and the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. During his tenure at KSU, Dr. Milleret also served on its Continuing Education Committee for several years. Earlier in his career, he practiced in Osceola, Iowa; served as an area supervisor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Missouri; and practiced in Bonner Springs, Kan. Dr. Milleret was a member of the Kansas VMA, Kansas Livestock Association, and what is now known as the United States Animal Health Association. He was a veteran of the Army Veterinary Corps. In 1985, Dr. Milleret was honored with the KSU College of Veterinary Medicine E.R. Frank Alumni Recognition Award. He is survived by his wife, Miriam; a daughter; and a son.

Marilyn J. Twitchell

Dr. Twitchell (MSU '52), 84, Los Angeles, died Feb. 4, 2010. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists, she was a consultant with Veterinary Centers of America in West Los Angeles and Palm Springs, Calif., prior to retirement in 2008. In retirement, Dr. Twitchell continued to conduct Canine Eye Registration Foundation clinics. Earlier in her career, she owned small animal practices in Santa Monica, Calif., including the Pet Medical Center, which she established in 1956. Dr. Twitchell was an accomplished fencer and artist. She is survived by her life partner, Mary Jean Pyatt.

William H. Watson

Dr. Watson (GA '50), 90, Williamsburg, Va., died Jan. 20, 2010. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, he worked as a health inspector for the state of Georgia prior to retirement. Earlier in his career, Dr. Watson served as a public health veterinarian in the Air Force for 34 years, retiring as a colonel. His wife, Marion; a son; and a daughter survive him. Memorials in his name may be made to Grace Christian Fellowship, 901 Ridge Road S., Largo, FL 33770.
