The Executive Board has approved a plan for making the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates candidate database user friendly by adding an online interface.

As it stands now, ECFVG candidates and participants must work with commission staff to register for examinations, make payments, and update their information. In addition, there is no electronic storage of background documents for candidate files, resulting in staff having to keep extensive hard copy files that require large amounts of storage space.

Updating the ECFVG database is expected to improve efficiency and make the database easier to use.

The commission estimates the project will cost up to $125,000 over the 2010 and 2011 budget years. There may also be an additional annual licensing fee for the software of approximately $10,000. Expenses will be paid from an ECFVG account restricted to Executive Board-approved quality assurance initiatives.
