Components of the new look and approach were unveiled and included a new logo, redesigned corporate collateral materials, social media tools, and a new display booth.

This year's attendees had the opportunity to use a suite of mobile and Web-based applications that provided multimedia access, including on-site connection, to conference programming, exhibitors, and events.

The conference featured more than 800 hours of continuing education on essential information and the most recent advances in small animal, large animal, and exotic animal medicine as well as practice management. Sponsored symposia focused on specific practical topics. Forty hands-on learning laboratories were conducted at the WVC's Oquendo Center for Clinical Education.

Comedian Bill Engvall and the rock band Foreigner provided entertainment during the conference.

During the conference, the Morris Animal Foundation honored actress Betty White for her decades-long support and commitment to the veterinary industry and to animal health and welfare research. P&G Pet Care North America recognized White's lifetime achievements in animal welfare with a $10,000 donation in her name to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation to support efforts by veterinarians to provide much-needed veterinary care for disaster relief.

WVC's annual appreciation awards were presented to the following recipients: Distinguished Service Award: Drs. Arthur A. Bickford, Turlock, Calif., and Bill Fortney, Kansas City, Mo.; Meritorious Service Award: Dr. Bob Miller, Columbia, Mo.; and Special Recognition Award: Janis Knoetzel, WVC scientific program manager, and Jill Pierce, WVC events and services manager.

Marc Caldwell, Auburn University; Kathryn Cass, Oklahoma State University; Craig Easley, Mississippi State University; Brandon D. McBride, Kansas State University; and Isaiah J.
