The National Veterinary Medical Service Act, Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank, and USDA Veterinary Accreditation Program are the AVMA's top priorities for 2010 funding requests for the 111th Congress.

The Executive Board approved the recommendation from the Legislative Advisory Committee, which also included a proposal for the AVMA Governmental Relations Division to work closely with Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges to secure funding for Section 1433 Formula Funds and the School of Veterinary Medicine Grant Program.

The committee identified 19 other areas for funding requests, ranging from the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Biosecurity Grant Program and Animal Welfare Information Center to the Homeland Security Department's Foreign Animal Disease Laboratory and National Center for Foreign Animal and Zoonotic Disease Defense Center.
