The American Veterinary Medical Foundation is now accepting student scholarship applications for 2008.

The Foundation will award 10 scholarships for $2,000 each to students enrolled in their first, second, or third year at an AVMA-accredited veterinary college or school in the United States. These 10 scholarships will come from the Foundation's unrestricted funds.

In addition, the AVMF will award three $1,000 scholarships to New Jersey residents attending an AVMA-accredited veterinary college or school in the United States. These three scholarships will be awarded through the Mildred C. Sylvester Scholarship Fund, which requires that first choice be given to students residing in New Jersey.

In keeping with the mission of the AVMF, preference will be given to students interested in pursuing a career in animal health studies, shelter medicine, or disaster preparedness and response efforts.

Applications must be postmarked by May 15, 2008. Applications are available online at www.avmf.org, under What we fund, and then Scholarships. For more information, contact Monique Buonincontro, AVMF grants coordinator, at (800) 248-2862, Ext. 6691, or mbuonincontroatavma [dot] org.
