The Executive Board approved increasing the annual stipend to $50,000 per year for the AVMA president and president-elect, beginning with the 2008-2009 Association year. The Budget and Financial Review Committee recommended the increases, which will cost an additional $10,000 in 2008, and an additional $20,000 per year beginning in 2009.

Each year, the president and president-elect receive a stipend for partial replacement of personal professional expenses. The stipend has been $40,000 annually since 1997. Because of the increase in costs of replacing personal professional expenses, the committee recommended the increases, which the board approved.
