Veterinary technicians and other hospital team members can expand their knowledge of canine and feline therapeutic nutrition by completing a new module in Daily Nutrition Matters, an online educational program from Nestle Purina.

Veterinary Nutrition, the fourth and final module in the educational program, focuses on 10 common health conditions and the dietary management appropriate for patients with those conditions. Topics include obesity and weight management, diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, dental health, and lower urinary-tract disease in cats. The module provides an overview of each health condition and details on how specific nutrients can play a role in management.

The first three modules of Daily Nutrition Matters cover basic nutrition and proper feeding of dogs and cats. Purina offers the educational program at no charge to veterinary professionals, although the company has geared content toward technicians because of their part in nutrition counseling.

Veterinary professionals can access Daily Nutrition Matters at www.purinavets.com/technicians. Those who have completed the first three modules will only need to log in to the program to access and complete the new module.

Additional information about the educational program is available by calling (800) 222-VETS (8387) on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
