Edward B. Aman

Dr. Aman (TEX ’54), 80, Tampa, Fla., died Aug. 4, 2006. He co-owned Armenia Animal Hospital in Tampa, Fla., with his son, Dr. Philip B. Aman (AUB ’76). Dr. Aman was a member of the Florida VMA and a past president of the North Tampa Rotary Club. His wife, Freda; two sons; and a daughter survive him.

Thomas L. Bibb

Dr. Bibb (OSU ’62), 69, Riner, Va., died March 17, 2006. He owned Maple Lawn Veterinary Service in Christiansburg, Va. Dr. Bibb also served as resident veterinarian for the Pulaski County Stock Market in Dublin, Va., and as an adviser and veterinary consultant for the Dublin Feeder Calf Association.

He was a member of the Virginia VMA, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Academy of Veterinary Consultants, and Society for Theriogenology. Dr. Bibb was also a member of the Virginia Beef Cattle Association, Virginia Horse Council, and Academy of Small Ruminant Animals, and served as president of the Virginia Academy of Food Animal Practitioners.

Dr. Bibb was a member of the Lions Club and served on the advisory board of the First National Bank in Riner. The General Assembly of the Virginia House of Delegates passed a resolution honoring and celebrating his life last April. Dr. Bibb’s wife, Susan, and a daughter survive him.

Earl F. Hinz

Dr. Hinz (WSU ’43), 85, Yakima, Wash., died Aug. 8, 2006. He was in mixed practice in Yakima for more than 40 years. Dr. Hinz was a member of the Washington State VMA. He was also a member and past secretary of the Yakima Valley VMA. Dr. Hinz is survived by three sons and a daughter. One son, Dr. David W. Hinz (WSU ’77), owns Yakima Veterinary Clinic, where Dr. Hinz’s granddaughter, Dr. Julie Young (STD ’04), also practices. Hunter E. Kendall

Dr. Kendall (AUB ’38), 91, Auburn, Ala., died March 26, 2006. Prior to retirement in 1982, he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Alabama. During his career, Dr. Kendall also worked for the USDA in South Carolina and helped with the efforts to eradicate foot-and-mouth disease in Mexico. A veteran of World War II, he served as station veterinarian with the Army Air Force.

Michael G. Kerfoot

Dr. Kerfoot (CAL ’75), 57, Bakersfield, Calif., died Aug. 27, 2006. He owned Bovine Health Services in Bakersfield since 1978. Earlier in his career, Dr. Kerfoot practiced at Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital. He served as director of District 10 for the American Association of Bovine Practitioners from 1978-1984. From 2001-2005, Dr. Kerfoot was a member of the California Veterinary Medical Board, serving as its president in 2004. He was elected to the AVMA Council on Education in July 2006.

A member of the National Mastitis Council, the Society for Theriogenology, and the California and Kern County VMAs, Dr. Kerfoot was instrumental in the development and implementation of a veterinary technician program at Bakersfield College. He also volunteered at the Kern County Fair Junior Livestock program. Dr. Kerfoot’s wife, Kathy; a son; and a daughter survive him. Donald L. Knott

Dr. Knott (MSU ’51), 83, North Hero, Vt., died May 12, 2006. Prior to retirement, he owned a practice in Brookfield, Vt., and worked as an inspector for the Department of Agriculture in the Midwest and New England. A veteran of World War II, Dr. Knott served in the Army Air Corps. His wife, Barbara; three daughters; two sons; and a stepson survive him.

George B. Meyer

Dr. Meyer (OKL ’63), 79, Fayetteville, Ariz., died March 24, 2006.

Joseph A. Mollenkopf

Dr. Mollenkopf (PUR ’69), 61, Mankato, Minn., died March 23, 2006. He practiced at Mankato Pet Hospital. Dr. Mollenkopf was a member of the Minnesota VMA.

Robert E. Philbrick

Dr. Philbrick (ISU ’44), 90, Riverside, Calif., died March 29, 2006. Prior to retirement in 1976, he practiced small animal medicine in southern California. Dr. Philbrick was a life member of the California VMA and a member of the Orange Belt VMA. He received Iowa State University’s Stange Award in 1986. Dr. Philbrick was also the recipient of ISU’s Order of the Knoll Cardinal and Gold Award, in recognition of service to the university.

Active in civic life, Dr. Philbrick served on Riverside’s Junior Chamber of Commerce, City Parking and Traffic Commission, and Committee for Flood Control Improvements.

Charles H. Wade

Dr. Wade (GA ’55), 84, Dalton, Ga., died May 26, 2006. Prior to retirement in 2005, he owned Wade Animal Hospital in Dalton. During his career, Dr. Wade also worked as a federal veterinarian for the Department of Agriculture in meat and poultry inspection. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

In honor of Dr. Wade’s and his late wife’s commitment to animals, the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is planning to establish the Dr. Charles and Evelyn Wade Adoption Center. Alan Woods

Dr. Woods (TEX ’50), 82, Denton, Texas, died March 26, 2006. From 1952 until retirement in 1985, he owned Woods Veterinary Hospital in Denton. Prior to that, Dr. Woods practiced in Weatherford, Texas. He served as a hospital corpsman during World War II. Dr. Woods is survived by his wife, Ann, and three sons.
