Dr. Greg Ledbetter has filled the post of interim administrator/state veterinarian of the Idaho State Department of Agriculture's Division of Animal Industries.

The Division of Animal Industries includes nearly 50 employees who handle everything from animal health issues to oversight of feedlots and dairies. Dr. Ledbetter will oversee the ISDA's staff of animal health experts and work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Plant and Animal Health Inspection Service.

"After 28 years in the private sector, I'm excited about the opportunity to work within state government to serve the livestock industry and the people of Idaho," he said.

Dr. Ledbetter graduated from the University of California-Davis in 1977, and he earned a master's degree in preventive veterinary medicine from the same school in 1979. He has lived in Jerome, Idaho, since the early 1980s. He and his wife, Jane, run a dairy with about 1,200 cows.
