Beginning in 2007 with the AVMA Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., speaker honorariums and registration fees will increase.

The Executive Board approved the new payment guidelines for speakers, submitted by the Convention Management and Program Committee, at an annual cost of $45,000.

Effective 2007, the total amount allocated per track per day will be $4,600 (formerly, $4,400); standard speaking honorarium per speaking hour with notes, $250 ($220); standard speaking honorarium per speaking hour without notes, $125 ($110); panel presentation allocation per hour, $125 ($110); minimum allocation per panel participant per hour, $65 ($55); interactive wet lab presenter standard honorarium per instruction hour with notes, $250 ($220); interactive wet lab presenter standard honorarium per instruction hour without notes, $125 ($110); and maximum allocation for multiple wet lab presenters per hour, $460 ($440).

When the new registration fee schedule is implemented in 2007, advance registration for veterinary technicians will be $125 (formerly, $105); preconvention registration $150 ($115); on-site, $175 ($120); advance member, $325 ($295); preconvention member, $375 ($345); on-site member, $425 ($395); advance nonmember, $525 ($520); preconvention nonmember, $575 ($570); on-site nonmember, $600 ($595); one-day member, $200 ($195); and one-day nonmember, $315 ($310).

The committee noted how the new $325 advance registration fee for AVMA members compares with other national veterinary meetings: Western Veterinary Conference, $250; American Animal Hospital Association Annual Conference, $389; American Association of Equine Practitioners, $425; and North American Veterinary Conference, $455.
