Trends in certification workshop slated for 2006
The Executive Board has allocated $9,950 for a one-day workshop on contemporary trends in certification and credentialing, immediately prior to the 2006 American Board of Veterinary Specialties meeting. The ABVS recommended the meeting because the public and profession are demanding increasing accountability. In addition, because the ABVS reviews and makes recommendations about the credentialing and certifying activities of its members, the organization believes a one-day workshop held in conjunction with its 2006 meeting would educate its members and executive officers. The Executive Board disapproved a similar recommendation, made by the ABVS, during the April 2004 meeting because a formal agenda had not yet been developed. "Passing this recommendation is important to specialists and the AVMA because, from time to time, we have to help these groups under the AVMA umbrella," said then AVMA President-Elect Henry E. Childers, a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. | ||
