The AVMA will be represented at the 20th Pan-American Association of Veterinary Sciences meeting next year in Santiago, Chile. The Executive Board approved AVMA President Bonnie V. Beaver's request, along with $9,600 to cover expenses for two AVMA staff members and shipping costs for an AVMA display.

Last November, the board approved a plan to pursue hosting the 21st PANVET meeting in conjunction with the 2008 AVMA Annual Convention in New Orleans, pending the board's approval of the terms.

If negotiations are successful, Dr. Beaver explained, the Chile meeting in 2006 would be an important opportunity to promote attendance at the New Orleans meeting.
