At its Nov. 18-20 meeting, the Executive Board will elect the next AVMA treasurer. The final term of the current treasurer, Dr. James F. Peddie, will end at the July 2005 AVMA Annual Convention. The treasurer serves a maximum of six one-year terms.

The election of a treasurer this fall provides an opportunity for the treasurer-elect to work with the current treasurer and AVMA staff in the development of the budget for the following year and to gain experience in the duties associated with the position.

Individuals interested in the position should contact the Executive Board member for their district. Board members make nominations for treasurer. Candidates for the position should provide a two-page resume and statement of eligibility. Nomination materials should be sent to the district board member and the AVMA executive vice president, Dr. Bruce W. Little, no later than Oct. 15. Candidates are not expected to attend the November board meeting.

The treasurer-elect will be invited, at his or her own expense, to attend the April and June 2005 Executive Board meetings. The AVMA, however, will fund the incoming treasurer's attendance at the meeting of the Budget and Financial Review Committee next May.
